The design for the Sedus office building strives to create an architectural representation of the office furniture manufacturer’s corporate philosophy and workspace concept.
The complex envisioned by the design appears flexible, interconnected and transparent: leading off from the center, the ground floor footprint radiates out across the entire site and integrates existing buildings into the corporate campus. Large-scale glass paneling underscores the open, inviting posture of the building, while the more sculptural upper floor presents a powerful contrast with solid walls to either side of its cantilevered blocks. By intersecting the building wings within a web-like layout and providing a transparent exterior shell, the design encourages communication across corporate divisions. Sedus sees its mission as delivering “productive well-being” and, with this in mind, the majority of the office space is arranged in an open-plan configuration.
