The listed building of the former Hermann Tietz department store is the first reinforced concrete building in Munich. It was built in 1905 according to plans by the renowned Munich architect Max Littmann and has four upper floors, an attic and a full basement.
In terms of style, Max Littmann drew on the Neo-Renaissance in this Warenhaus design, creating a palatial character with projections, gables and dormers as well as a striking corner tower, while the vertical elements were linked by horizontal bands and windows grouped together. An atrium was created inside the building, in which the vertical access was also organized.
After numerous post-war conversions and destruction, allmannwappner was commissioned with the general refurbishment of the department store in order to carefully restore the splendor of the building, which was a landmark for Munich.
