Situated on a prominent site in Münster near Lake Aasee, the office building stands at one end of this lakefront development.
The starting point for the design is the top-floor recess, which the development plan mandates for all buildings at the site. Thanks to several circular cut-outs, the recess is not only a feature of the top floor; subtracting cylindrical shafts from the building as a whole also creates space for terraces and a canopied entrance on the lower floors. The resulting cantilevers are supported by diagonal back-stays, allowing for outdoor terraces entirely free of supporting pillars. The result is disconcerting, as the rectangular solid seems to have lost its balance. At the same time, the visual impact of the building is expressive and impressive.
